Our 2026 summer demo schedule is set — South Ponto, once a month
August 24, 2026 · 3 min read · Paddle Planet
Free demo days at South Ponto through October, with the full Infinity, Starboard and Jimmy Lewis surf range in the water. Bring a wetsuit, we'll bring the boards.
Demo days are the single best thing we do. Nobody should spend two thousand dollars on a board they've only stood on in a shop, and nobody should have to guess at volume from a spec sheet. So from now through October we're back at South Ponto once a month with the whole surf range in the water.
What we bring
Every board in the current Infinity surf lineup — The New Deal, B-Line Twin, Blurr V3, Escape Pod and both Wide Speeds — plus the Starboard Spice, TwinFin and Whopper, and the Jimmy Lewis Striker and Maestro. On the paddle side we bring the QuickBlade Kanaha and UV in three blade sizes and the Black Project Lava, so you can feel the difference a blade shape makes back to back on the same board.
How it works
Show up any time between 9am and 1pm. There's no booking and no cost. Bring a wetsuit and a leash if you have one; we have spare leashes. One of us will ask what you're riding now, what's frustrating you about it, and what you're hoping the next board does better — then hand you two or three shapes to compare rather than a stack of eight.
If a board clicks, we'll note the size that worked and hold that spec at the shop. And if you'd rather have a full session on it, the demo rental applies 70% of the rental cost to a new board purchase, up to $100.
Why we do it at Ponto
Ponto is honest. It's usually a soft, forgiving beach break with enough push to tell you whether a board catches waves early, and enough sections to tell you whether it turns. If a board feels good at Ponto in waist-high surf, it will feel good on most days in North County.
Dates shift with the swell and the weather. Call the shop before you drive down if you're coming from out of the area.
